Hot Weather Shipping Policy

Because wine is incredibly sensitive to temperature, we transport every offer in temperature-controlled vehicles, and check weather patterns constantly to ensure no bottle is ever left in an environment where extreme temperatures are present—we even developed our own software to optimize our truck routes and keep wines out of dangerous areas. But planning and software aside, shipping safely gets slightly more complicated during the warm summer months.

In addition to our standard temperature-control measures, we have transitioned to our Perfect Temperature Packaging: Wines will ship with a cold pack inside the box, and styrofoam packaging instead of our standard cardboard inserts at no additional cost

While the cold pack will likely have melted by the time you receive the shipment, rest assured our cold packs are designed to maintain optimal temperature during the entire shipping process—especially for the short time they spend in a FedEx or UPS truck.

Our summer shipping protocol ensures each bottle arrives at your doorstep in the same pristine condition under which it left the winery. If you’d prefer not to receive the extra packaging, please choose another option at checkout or contact our Napa-based member services team:

Store in the Wine Access Cellar:

We will hold your shipment in our climate-controlled temperatures until autumn at no additional cost.

Just Ship It:

We will ship your wine ASAP with Perfect Temperature Packaging if temperatures along your delivery route rise above 79 degrees.  If you would like to forgo Perfect Temperature Packaging all together reach out to us at (Wine Access is not responsible for weather-related impact if you choose this option.)

Soon, we’ll be making updates to our checkout process to make selecting your shipping options even easier and more intuitive based on the weather in your area.

Please also note that a missed delivery means extra time on the delivery truck, which may have adverse effects on your wine, so please feel free to call or email our member services team if you’ll need to change a scheduled delivery for any reason. You can update your delivery date from your account profile.
