The Top 10 Wines of 2025

2023 Yesterday Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Napa Valley – 4.77 ⭐

We reserve the Yesterday label for wineries that are iconic or even “cult”—the kind people would scarcely believe they could buy at this price. This hails from an Oakville estate that neighbors three or four of Napa’s most famous houses.

2023 Granbazan Etiqueta Verde Albarino Rias Baixas – 4.65 ⭐

Wines like this one are why the New York Times wonders whether Albariño is the “Next Great White Wine.” Energetic, it finishes with an unforgettable hint of salinity that only the best Albariños boast.

2022 Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs Dry Creek Valley – 4.65 ⭐

The 2022 Lytton Springs—the 50th anniversary bottling— is doubtless one of the best blends this legendary winery has ever made. James Suckling called it “the kingpin of Ridge’s Sonoma County heritage blends.”

2019 Ferrer Bobet Vinyes Velles Priorat – 4.63 ⭐

Ferrer Bobet has risen to the top of the Who’s Who list in Spain, having been named Spain’s Winery of the Year twice. They capture the rugged boldness of the region with this gorgeously rich and full-bodied 2019 old-vines release.

2024 Sohm & Kracher Gruner Veltliner Lion Niederosterreich – 4.6 ⭐

Aldo Sohm and Gerhard Kracher are two wine legends, so we knew any collaboration between them would be stunning. What we didn’t expect was how much value it would deliver—and it pairs perfectly with a myriad of foods.

Henri Champliau Cremant de Bourgogne Rose Burgundy France – 4.59 ⭐

As clean and precise as rosé Champagnes that cost three times as much, sporting an incredible 95-point score, we simply cannot point to another méthode champenoise sparkler that delivers this much quality for the price.

Quinta de la Rosa 20 Year Old Tawny Port Portugal (500 mL) – 4.58 ⭐

From breathtaking estate vineyards that rise dramatically above the Douro River, this is a rich, nuanced 20-year-old Tawny that bears 95 points from Decanter. It shows exactly why Quinta de la Rosa has long been known as one of the best single-quinta port producers.

2018 Pope Valley Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley – 4.58 ⭐

Pope Valley took things to the next level by bringing on 100-point consulting winemaker Jean Hoefliger—of AXR, Alpha Omega, and The Debate fame. Crafted from estate fruit grown in Wine Spectator’s highest-rated Napa vintage of all time, it’s a straight-up steal.

Maurice Grumier Jônt Special Edition Extra-Brut Champagne – 4.55 ⭐

This is the Champagne that greets guests at MICHELIN two-starred Jônt in DC—and it deserves a spot alongside the greatest bubblies in the world. Made using the same solera system that produces Jacques Sélosse’s four-digit-priced bottles, it’s an extraordinary wine from one of Champagne’s best-kept secrets.

2021 Bank Shot Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley – 4.3 ⭐

Crafted by the prodigiously talented and in-demand winemaker Maayan Koschitzky, Bank Shot absolutely oozes pedigree. This bottle comes from some of his favorite sites: a famed alluvium-rich vineyard in St. Helena, a prime spot in the heart of Oakville, and a Howell Mountain site known for $500+ Cab.
